WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Being a Tulsa Police Officer is not like the latest Netflix show. Being a Tulsa Police Officer means you strive for peace and safety for our community, for our city. It means you are filled with empathy and compassion, while driving toward challenge and action. Becoming a Tulsa Police Officer means being the difference.

COMMUNITY FIRST

Committed to a life of servant leadership.

Committed to a safer, stronger community.

We believe that individual communities are the fabric of a great American society, and Tulsa is our community. To ensure our community is strong and resilient, freedom from fear and trust through partnerships are essential. As sworn Police Officers, it is our sacred and welcomed duty to serve Tulsans as upstanding law enforcement professionals, and as fellow compassionate citizens.

MENTALLY TOUGH

Mentally prepared for the challenges of the day.

Mentally resilient for the challenges of tomorrow.

Deciding to apply to be a Tulsa Police Officer is the first step on an amazing journey. To equip you for success, we will train you to hone your personal discipline, mental preparedness, and performance under pressure. We will also provide opportunities to challenge and strengthen your mental resilience to help you effectively process the challenges of police work, and to ensure a long and rewarding career.

PHYSICALLY STRONG

Physically capable of saving lives.

Physically prepared to control any situation.

Physical strength is not an option as a Tulsa Police Officer. But strength also doesn't look identical in all officers. If you have the internal drive and mental toughness, we have the functional strength training experts and facilities to help make you the physically strongest officer you can be. When the time comes to save a life, support your partner, or guard the community, you will be ready.

MORALLY GROUNDED

Morally impervious to temptation and vice.

Morally driven to perform your duty for all citizens.

As Tulsa Police Officers we often see the grey in life: he said vs. she said; it's a law, but no one obeys it; the law isn't clear in this circumstance; this person committed a crime, but may need psychological treatment. To succeed and thrive in this environment, your moral compass must be true and your commitment to it unwavering. We equip and train our officers with the tools they need to navigate the grey and make confident decisions.

"Many of the traits that make great officers lie dormant in us. We seek to activate and hone these traits in our recruits and our officers."

Major Ryan Perkins
Training Division Director
Tulsa Police Academy

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

Essential to our success as the primary law enforcement agency in Tulsa is a compassionate, transparent, and collaborative partnership with our citizens. To this end, Tulsa Police Officers are heavily involved with many partner organizations to develop deeper community understanding, empathy, and involvement. Below are just a few of our partners.

Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry and Tulsa Police work together to promote cooperation, understanding and service among the various faiths to meet the pressing needs of our community.
